Born Deaf into a Deaf family, Mira Zuckermann grew up surrounded by stories told through movement, expression, and the visual poetry of sign language. From her father’s vivid storytelling, she inherited both a language and a calling.
When she set out to become an actor, the obstacles she faced were larger than the traditional four walls of the theatre. The resistance she met — in society, institutions, other people’s expectations, and sometimes within herself — became what she calls the fifth wall.
Yet Mira carved out a place for herself with a performance style rooted in precision, physical presence, and the expressive power of signing.
